How do I put my web site onto a web server

Once you have your domain and hosting accounts sorted and you have some web pages created you will need to place your web site files on the web server. This is usually done using FTP, or File Transport Protocol. Many web site editors like Front Page, Front Page Express or Dreamweaver have this facility built in, but if not there are several FTP Clients available. Please se the resources section for more details.

Whether you use a built in upload facility or a separate FTP Client you will need to find and use the following information:
- Server address
- Account user name
- Password

In most cases your web hosting company will be able to help you with this.

You will usually be reuired to upload your files into the 'Public-HTML' or 'WWW' folder on the web server. This will ensure the files are visible to general internet users.
